What’s new: The Global PE Forum and Caixin Insight Group have released the latest list of winners of the annual awards for institutions and individuals in China’s private equity (PE) and venture capital industry.
U.S.-based Carlyle Group Inc. and Warburg Pincus LLC were among the top 20 private equity firms in China, according to the list (link in Chinese) released Tuesday. Beijing-based Hillhouse Capital Management Ltd. and Hopu Investment Management Co. Ltd. were also on the list.
What’s the background: The awards, which gauge institutions’ different capabilities, including fundraising and selection of investment targets with high returns, aim to provide a reliable reference for investors, said the Beijing Private Equity Association, an industry group.
The Global PE Forum, which is organized by the Beijing Private Equity Association and the city’s regulators, launched the annual awards program in 2014. Since 2016, the forum has cooperated with think tank Caixin Insight Group on the award process.
