Carluke Rovers line up potential friendlies ahead of WOSL kick-off

Carluke Rovers have lined up five potential pre-season friendlies as they prepare for the West of Scotland League Conference B kick-off on October 10.

Boss Mark Weir would have more games in his diary if he had more time, but says clubs are all scrambling about trying to arrange fixtures at the same time.

Weir, who has brought in James Miller, Danny Terry and Lewis McDougall and has two trialists in that look promising, says they will be ready for the start of the season.

“I was delighted when a committee member told me we could be starting back up on October 10,” he said.

“It’s a massive relief, to be honest, not only for me but the players as well, because they’re ready and raring to go.

“It has been a frustrating time; we were restricted in what we could do in training, with the social distancing and non-contact stuff at the moment, but hopefully another week of this and that will be us really into it.

“I’ve got friendlies lined up against Fauldhouse, Mid-Annandale, hopefully Lanark and Lesmahagow, and Petershill.

“It’s going to be a tough season, so we’re trying to get as many games and as much game-time as we can at the moment, but the clubs I’ve spoken to are in the same boat as ourselves.

“I would like more games, but all the dates I’ve got pencilled in have all been taken, or I would have a lot more.”

Weir added: “We’ve brought in James Miller, Danny Terry, Lewis McDougall and there are another two that I’ve got in at the moment on trial. There’s a good possibility that I’m going to sign them.”
