Carluke Rovers gaffer's joy with demolition job as side vow to play on in WOSL

Carluke Rovers boss Mark Weir praised his side for their demolition of Vale of Leven.

An Eddie Haley hat-trick, Jordan Conlan double and Jordan Lithgow strike ensured a comfortable win for the home side.

Having been hammered 6-1 by Johnstone Burgh just days before, Weir was delighted with the response.

“I got the reaction I wanted, that’s for sure,” said the gaffer. I asked the players to show a massive reaction and a will to win, and I was more than delighted.

“Especially for my striker Eddie Haley who has been working so hard and not getting his rewards.

“I said I need more goals from him and to give me a hat-trick was brilliant.

“We had a few guys coming into the team and seven players out with injuries and two self-isolating, so I brought a few guys in to freshen things up. We have brought in Dominic Chiedu from Larkhall as well and he did well.”

With the deadline to pull out of the West of Scotland League set for tomorrow, Weir has vowed to fight on in the Conference B campaign.

“We had a chat with our players last week along with the committee guys,” he said.

“The committee guys were really keen for us to go along with the season, which is the same as myself and the coaching staff.

“We gave the players the option to not go ahead and every one of them is willing to go for it.”
