Carluke Rovers boss "embarrassed" by Greenock rout

Furious Carluke Rovers boss Mark Weir blasted his side’s performance as “embarrassing” and “unacceptable” after they were thrashed 8-0 at home by Greenock in the West of Scotland League Conference B.

And he will hold showdown talks with his players during the week ahead a “massive” clash at bottom side Dalry Thistle this weekend.

Weir said: “I’ve not got much to say, apart from it was embarrassing.

“I’m down to bare bones as it is, and that’s not an excuse – we shouldn’t be getting beat by eight goals, and it could have been more, to be honest.

“It was embarrassing, and I’ve told them that.

“I’ve called for a meeting to get things ironed out and sorted out.

“I have seven guys out, six of them are first-team starters week in, week out for me.

“It’s back to the drawing board and we’ll get ready for a massive, massive game on Saturday, away to Dalry.”

After the huge disappointment, Weir expects a vast improvement.

He added: “I don’t need to give a team talk – well, I shouldn’t need to – after Saturday’s performance, so we’ll see what this Saturday brings.

“I’m looking for a massive reaction from everybody, but when myself and my assistant are giving them instructions and they’re not taking it on board, there’s only so much we can do.

"It’s down to the guys who have the 11 jerseys.”
