Carlsen floors Nepo

Cometh the seventh hour, cometh the man.

Magnus Carlsen showed his supreme, slow-poisoning endgame skills with white pieces to break the defense of Russian challenger Ian Nepomniachtchi in a brain-numbing, highly-nuanced and tactical game lasting 136 moves the World Chess Championship match in Dubai.

The sixth game started on Friday local time and spilled over to Saturday, lasting seven hours and 40 minutes.

It was also the longest game in terms of moves in the glorious and intriguing history of the World Matchplay, breaking the 124-move 'stalemate' for black (not draw) between Viktor Korchnoi and Anatoly Karpov in 1978.

The deadlock of drawn games was broken in grand style as the champion took the lead and retained it (4-3) as Game 7 on Saturday.
