Carlow GAA club suspends all activity after suspected contact with Covid-19 case

A Carlow GAA club has suspended all activity after a player was identified as a close contact of someone who has tested positive for coronavirus.

Fenagh GAA are shutting down as a precautionary measure until the player has either been discounted as a close contact or tests negative for the killer virus.

They said in a statement: "A member of our Club has today been identified as a suspected close contact of an individual who has tested positive for COVID 19.

"As a precautionary measure and in line with HSE and GAA advise our club will suspend all activity until this player has (a) been discounted as a close contact and / or (b) received a negative result of any COVID test.

"The executive committee have agreed that this is the most prudent and safest action at this point in time."

It comes after another Carlow club in Rathvilly GAA shut down activity earlier this week, but they have since returned to normal following a negative test.
