Carlos Pena walks out on contract as Rangers flop cuts ties with struggling Mexican outfit

Rangers flop Carlos Pena has walked out on his contract with Atletico Veracruzano after they failed to pay his wages.

The former Mexico international moved to Ibrox in the summer of 2017 as one of Pedro Caixinha 's signings but had a difficult time in Glasgow.

Though he scored four goals in 12 Premiership games but was hampered by problems with alcohol.

After struggling to get his career back on track he appeared to have turned the corner with Veracruzano, netting his first goal since scoring for Rangers in 2017.

His current club play in the Liga del Balompie Mexicano, a breakaway league to rival Liga MX that has not been recognised by FIFA.

The venture is struggling financially, with Acapulco and Atletico Jalisco already kicked out for failing to meet requirements, including paying salaries on time.

Real San Jose have also failed to pay their players, while Pena was left furious after he and his team mates weren't paid by Veracruzano chiefs, with the president resigning and players refusing to train.

He said: "I have decided to no longer be a part of the club. I have broken all ties with the Veracruzano club  for breach of contract."
