Tokyo District Court on Thursday granted former Nissan chairman Carlos Ghosn bail for a second time, setting bail at 500 million yen ($4.5 million) — however, prosecutors have appealed his release from jail, AFP reports.
The big picture: Ghosn was the architect of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance — the world's largest carmaker, before his arrest in November for alleged financial misconduct. He was bailed in March but later rearrested. Ghosn was indicted on fresh charges Monday. He denies any wrongdoing. Ghosn's spokesman told Axios he'll defend himself against all accusations, which he called "baseless."
