Carlos Boozer calls Derrick Rose ‘most athletic point guard’ in NBA history

Throughout the years, the Chicago Bulls have fielded plenty of competitive teams. Obviously, the Michael Jordan-led Bulls were the cream of the crop, but since then, they’ve managed to put together some solid rosters. Derrick Rose helped the Bulls reach the Eastern Conference finals for the first time since Jordan in 2011, but he needed some help.

Chicago was led by Rose, but guys like Joakim Noah, Luol Deng, and Carlos Boozer were crucial in the team’s success. Boozer joined the team via a trade with the Utah Jazz prior to the start of the 2010-11 season. He went from playing with one All-Star guard in Deron Williams to another in Rose.

In an interview with Betway, Boozer discussed the differences between the two, throwing some high praise Rose’s way.

“They were both great and so different, they’re both terrific point guards,” Boozer said of Williams and Rose.”D-Will was more of a pass-first point guard who loved to get the assist, he could also score one on one, but he was more of a pass-first point guard. D-Rose was just an assassin, he could score anytime he wanted to, jump over the seven-footers inside.”

Williams and Rose were both three-time All-Stars during their respective careers, but their games were very different.

Boozer sees Rose as one of the uniquely talented guards in league history.

“I think he is probably the most athletic point guard we’ve ever had in the NBA, I mean, literally 6-foot-2, 6-foot-3,” said Boozer.”Fast like Allen Iverson, jumped like Michael Jordan, he was a rare combination of speed and athleticism, not just on the court but in the air. He would do all these dipsy-doo and he was spectacular, but they were two great, great point guards but a very different style of play.”

Rose, now on the Memphis Grizzlies, has had a second career since leaving Chicago, while Williams has been retired from the NBA since 2017.
