Carlo Ancelotti tells Everton's back-up goalkeepers about rotation policy idea

Carlo Ancelotti has told Everton's understudy goalkeepers that he could rotate them from game to game.

Maarten Stekelenburg was named on the bench for Saturday's game with West Ham having made way for Jonas Lossl a week earlier for the match against Brighton.

Lossl was fit and travelled to London with the rest of the squad, taking part in the goalkeepers' warm-up.

'They wanted me to come in and give Pickford some pressure'

But Stekelenburg is now expecting he will be replaced by the summer recruit, as back-up to Jordan Pickford, for Tuesday night's clash at Goodison with Newcastle United.

Lossl appeared to have lost his place as Everton's second-choice goalkeeper after the sacking of Marco Silva as caretaker boss Duncan Ferguson immediately reinstalled Stekelenburg to the matchday squad.

The Dutch keeper, who is now into the final six months of his deal at Goodison, was on the bench for all four of Ferguson's games in charge and kept his place for the first four games of the Ancelotti-era.

But Lossl was brought back in from the cold for the match with Brighton, having last been involved in Silva's final game in charge at the start of December.

The Denmark international then lost his place to Stekelenburg but Ancelotti has informed them that he could keep switching them from fixture to fixture.
