Carlo Ancelotti insists Everton have "no regrets" about their performance in exiting the Carabao Cup to Manchester United.
The Blues lost 2-0 at Goodison last night after the visitors scored two late goals to set up a last four tie with Manchester City.
Everton mustered only three shots on target and had less than 35% of possession but Ancelotti was in no mood to be critical of his players' performance.
"We are disappointed, of course," Ancelotti said.
"It is an important competition for us. But I think there are no regrets because we performed. We had a difficult start but after 20 minutes, defensively, we were in control.
"In the second-half, we didn't give an opportunity [before the final three minutes] to a team that is really strong. Manchester United are a really strong team.
"We were close to penalties but we have no regrets, absolutely."
Everton, Ancelotti said, had a plan to sit back and soak up United's pressure.
"We played the game to defend and try and use our quality on the counter-attack," he said.
"We had to build up properly but we were a little bit worried and missed some passes."
