Carlo Ancelotti's trophy vow with a difference to Everton fans and 'Spirit of the Blues' revelation

Carlo Ancelotti has revealed he's currently learning the lyrics to 'Spirit of the Blues' and teased when Everton fans will able to first hear him sing the popular club song.

The anthem, released when the Blues reached the 1984 FA Cup final, has claimed fresh popularity following Everton's impressive start to the season and reached number one on the iTunes chart on Sunday evening after a social media campaign started by supporters.

And after seeing his side reach the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup, Ancelotti has vowed to sing the song at Wembley if the Blues win the competition.

"I'm trying to learn the song because I like to sing," he told the club after the final whistle. "But as you know, I sing only when we win trophies - so I hope to sing soon!"

"Yeah, I hope so (to sing after winning the Carabao Cup). We'll do our best."

Ancelotti's side aren't the only Everton team hoping to win silverware this season with the Women's side beating Birmingham City to reach the FA Cup final.

And the Italian had a message for the Blues' counterparts after their semi-final success set up a trip to Wembley of their own.

"It was a good night," he said. "We have reached the quarter-final of this competition. I am really pleased that also the Women have reached the final of the FA Cup so it is a good night for Evertonians."
