Carlo Ancelotti reveals Everton friendly plan and injury latest on Andre Gomes and Jean-Philippe Gbamin

Carlo Ancelotti revealed Everton will organise a friendly match following the Premier League winter break to aid the recovery of Andre Gomes.

Gomes suffered an ankle fracture in the draw with Tottenham Hotspur at Goodison Park in November but has resumed first-team training this month.

When asked if the midfielder remained on course to be available for the trip to Arsenal following the break, Ancelotti replied: "Yeah, we are going to organise a friendly game from us when we come back from the holidays and everything is okay with him."

Ancelotti was also cautious to put an exact time-frame on Jean-Philippe Gbamin's return after the summer signing suffered a setback in his comeback from a quadricep injury and underwent a further operation.

"I think the plan for Gbamin is eight-weeks after the surgery," the Italian said. "The surgery went well. Now he's doing a little treatment.

"I think, as we said, in eight weeks, but we have to go slowly as the injury was big.

"Step-by-step we will see what's going on.

"Of course we hope to recover him before the end of the season."
