Carlo Ancelotti responds to Ben Godfrey transfer talk as Marcel Brands task explained

Carlo Ancelotti was refusing to talk about the impending arrival of Ben Godfey from Norwich City.

Everton are closing in on the capture of the 22-year-old defender but Ancelotti refused to say much about the pursuit.

"I think it is not official," he said.

"So we are interested but until it is official I don't want to talk about this."

Everton are trying to offload a number of unwanted players, including Sandro Ramirez, Yannick Bolasie and Mo Besic, but Ancelotti says he is leaving the small trimming to director of football Marcel Brands.

"I am not focused on this," he said.

"Our technical director is working on this. There are players that want to leave to find an opportunity outside of this club. There is no problem to let them go."

Ancelotti has described the problem which forced Seamus Coleman off less than an hour as "small injury" and says Richarlison suffered a recurrence of the ankle problem which had made him a doubt for this game.
