It’s not often that a manager gets upset at a referee during a pre-season friendly.
But Willie Collum somehow managed to find a way to anger Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti at Ibrox.
And it had nothing to do with the red card the whistler showed to Nacho.
Even in a bounce game, it was hard to argue with the Spaniard’s sending off for his lunge on Glen Kamara which resulted in a second yellow card.
No, it seems that Collum’s decision to add on FOUR minutes of injury time is what really angered Ancelotti.
And when the Italian made his feelings clear to the fourth official the game was suddenly brought to an early halt.
Spanish newspaper Marca picked up on the incident after the La Liga side’s 2-1 defeat to Steven Gerrard’s Scottish Premiership champions.
The headline read: “The referee adds four minutes, Ancelotti gets angry ... and they end up whistling the end before time!”
And they reported: “Despite losing to Glasgow Rangers, the Italian coach got angry when it was a friendly and considered the additional minutes excessive.
“The referee seemed to have paid attention to Ancelotti's complaints and whistled the end before reaching the 91st minute.
“The Real Madrid coach, just after saying goodbye to Steven Gerrard, had a conversation with the fourth official to explain the situation and that decision to add so much time to a pre-season match.”
