Carlo Ancelotti on Dominic Calvert-Lewin Golden Boot chance while outlining Everton striker's target

Carlo Ancelotti has praised Dominic Calvert-Lewin's focus in the box and commented on the Everton striker's chances of winning the Golden Boot this term.

The 23-year-old was on target again for his side during the 3-2 win over Fulham on Sunday afternoon, bagging two goals in the first half to twice give the visitors the lead at Craven Cottage.

The striker bundled in the opening goal after just 42 seconds, before finishing off a sweeping Blues move for his side's second just before the half hour mark.

That takes the England international to the top of the Premier League's goalscoring charts with 10 so far this season already, and Ancelotti was later asked about his chances of securing the Golden Boot at the end of the campaign.

The Everton manager told his post-match press conference: "Really I don't know, I hope for him! And it will be good for us for him to win the Golden Boot!

"I think the target is not this, the target is to score goals to help the team to be at the top of the table.

"I think that now, in this moment, he's really focused in the box.

"Every ball that arrives from crosses, he's there. He's doing really well honestly, I didn't expect any more, just to have the consistency that he's had in this period."

Ancelotti was also asked about the club's options without Calvert-Lewin in the side after Moise Kean secured a loan move to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.

The boss was questioned over whether the Blues could maybe move in the January transfer window for another striker, but he highlighted the options currently at Goodison Park as being sufficient.

Ancelotti added: "We have Richarlison who can play there, we have Tosun who is back from his injury who was out for eight months. There we have a possibility to replace him.

"Now he [Calvert-Lewin] is really efficient, it will be difficult to replace him in this aspect. But these two players, Richarlison and Tosun, can play there without problem."
