Everton expect James Rodriguez will be fit to face West Ham United next weekend.
The Blues were forced into a late change ahead of tonight's game with Aston Villa at Goodison when Rodriguez pulled up with a calf problem.
Rodriguez reported some discomfort to the club's medical staff and it was decided he was not fit to play.
Alex Iwobi replaced the Colombian in the starting line-up.
But Carlo Ancelotti is hopeful that the 29-year-old's calf issue will have cleared in time for next Sunday's trip to the London Stadium.
He said: "I think he had a little problem. He was not comfortable to play.
"I think he is going to play in the next game. It was a really small problem."
Ahead of the game, Ancelotti said it was possible that Abdoulaye Doucoure could be fit for the game too.
