Carlo Ancelotti: New Everton boss offers compatriot Moise Kean lifeline at Goodison

Carlo Ancelotti has offered Moise Kean a lifeline at Everton after succeeding Marco Silva in charge at Goodison Park.

The Italian has signed a four-and-a-half year contract and watched from the stands on Saturday with his new side holding Arsenal to a goalless draw.

Kean has had trouble since moving from Juventus last summer and suffered the ignominy of being substituted by caretaker boss Duncan Ferguson after coming on as a substitute against Manchester United.

But Ancelotti is excited to work with the Italian youngster after attempting to sign him before during his time at Napoli.

"I tried to sign him before he signed for Everton," Ancelotti revealed.

"He is a fantastic player, we have to remember he is only 19. We have to wait and work with him. He has a top quality."

Ancelotti then detailed his plans to play a more expansive style of football.

"We want to try and play attractive football," declared the Italian. "I see how the supporters drive the team forward, this is good.

"I will like to try and play attractive football. The long-term objective is to be competitive in the Premier League - there are a lot of fantastic teams here.

"We want to be ambitious, this is the goal and of course to be competitive - also in Europe could be good.

"The club wants to be competitive in the Premier League, for me this is enough.

"We have to improve the right way, the fact the club wants to build a new stadium, I know that today is a very important day. That means the ambition of the club is very high."
