Carlo Ancelotti makes shock choice as he names Chelsea legends in best 11 players he has managed

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has been included in Carlo Ancelotti's best XI compiled from players he has managed during his career.

The now-Everton boss has put together a team of the best 11 players he has worked with during his managerial career, after being asked by Spanish publication Marca.

Ancelotti has worked with several stars during his illustrious career, which includes spells at some of the top clubs in Europe, including AC Milan, Juventus, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.

Unsurprisingly, several Italian players have made the cut, including goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, defender Paolo Maldini and midfielder Andrea Pirlo.

Chelsea: The season so far

Two Chelsea legends have also been included in the team, with Frank Lampard in midfield and former Blues captain John Terry in defence, having both been key members of Ancelotti's side during his time with the Blues.

Another former Chelsea player is included in his team, with Andriy Shevchenko named in Ancelotti's team after his time at AC Milan, where the Italian manager won eight major honours as boss.

There is, however, a surprising omission from Ancelotti's team, with no place for Cristiano Ronaldo, who he worked with during his time at Real Madrid.

Ancelotti's team also includes Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Kaka, Zinedine Zidane, Cafu and Thiago Silva.
