Carlo Ancelotti makes Ross Barkley admission over Everton's Academy

Carlo Ancelotti is hoping that Everton's Academy can produce more players like Ross Barkley in years to come.

Ancelotti made the claim when asked about young prospect Lewis Warrington, who has impressed so far this season.

The Blues youngster has been instrumental in helping his side into the fifth round of the FA Youth Cup.

A sensational 97th-minute winner from midfielder Luke Butterfield handed Paul Tait’s side a 1-0 win over Manchester City last weekend and helped set-up a fifth round tie with Chelsea.

So far this season, fellow Everton youngsters Thierry Small, Tyler Onyango and Harry Tyrer have all been involved with the first-team on a number of occasions.

Everton’s Academy has been known for producing plenty of talent over the years, with the likes of Michael Ball, Francis Jeffers, Wayne Rooney and Barkley all products of the club’s youth system.

"I think that we have a good Academy," the Everton boss said when asked about Warrington.

“Not only Lewis, but there are players training with us a lot of times for the fact that I have a lot of young players working with us because some first-team players are out injured.

“I can say that our Academy is a good Academy, because we have players with talent. Some of these players were on the bench in games for the Premier League.

“I think we have a good future in that sense in our Academy and I hope that soon we are going to have more Ross Barkley’s for the future of this club.”
