Carlo Ancelotti makes 'impossible' Manchester United claim and confirms Farhad Moshiri phone calls

Carlo Ancelotti does not believe that Manchester United were at fault after controversy concerning their line-up against Leicester City on Tuesday evening.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made ten changes to his lineup for the visit of the Foxes to Old Trafford, with two teenagers being given their debuts in a surprising starting 11.

United were taking on Brendan Rodgers' side just two days after their win over Aston Villa on Sunday, and 48 hours before they were due to welcome Liverpool on Thursday evening in their rearranged fixture.

The Red Devils lineup caused some controversy, however, heightened by Leicester going on to win the match 2-1.

But Ancelotti does not believe that United were at fault, and instead thinks that the schedule made things "impossible" for an unchanged side to be named.

The boss remarked: "It's really difficult to judge the behaviour of Manchester United, of the manager.

"But, honestly, the schedule for them was terrible. They have to play three games in five days, it's impossible to play three games in five days with the same team.

"So it's absolutely normal to rotate the players, because they cannot arrive at the last game fresh. The problem was the schedule, not the fact that they changed the team yesterday against Leicester."

Ancelotti also spoke about his relationship with Everton's majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri.

The Italian quipped, following the recent 1-0 win over West Ham United, that the billionaire had brought his side good luck with his attendance at the London Stadium.

And the boss confirmed he has a good relationship with Moshiri, who is keen to be clued up on the squad as much as he possibly can.

"With Mr Moshiri I have a really good relationship," Ancelotti added.

"He's an owner that supports the team, supports the club. I talk to him, not every day, but at least he wants to be informed for the condition of the team and the players.

"We speak on the phone of course, for the pandemic we didn't have the possibility to meet. I met him last week in London - it was a good moment with Marcel Brands and with Bill Kenwright.

"He is always behind us, because he wants to know everything about the club, and I keep him informed."
