Carlo Ancelotti makes goalkeeper decison after Jordan Pickford derby display and gives Josh King promise

Carlo Ancelotti will continue to rotate Everton's goalkeepers until the end of this season.

Jordan Pickford has played in the majority of games for the Blues this season but has occasionally been rested in place of Robin Olsen.

And the England No.1 kept a clean sheet against Liverpool in his last Premier League outing and played well during the match.

However, Blues boss Ancelotti believes it is important to keep rotating the shot-stoppers in order to raise motivation and focus.

"He did really well and that's what he is able to do," the Italian manager told his pre-Southampton press conference when asked about Pickford's performance at Anfield.

"I think it helps that we rotate.

"It's true, the fact that Olsen is there can help make him more motivated and focused.

"I'm going to continue rotating the goalkeepers until the end of this season."

There may be more changes elsewhere for Everton too, as we head into the latter stages of the 2020/21 campaign.

Josh King, who arrived at Goodison Park on deadline day earlier this month, has been called into action from the bench four times in the Premier League under Ancelotti.

However, the manager promised the striker would find a place in Everton's starting XI for "some games".

"King is not far away and he plays a part in games," Ancelotti added.

"It's important for him to stay fit, his condition is good and he is working and adapting really well.

"He will find a place in the first XI in some games."
