Carlo Ancelotti makes Everton FFP declaration after Man City decision

Carlo Ancelotti would not be drawn into the heated debate around Financial Fair Play and the overturning of Manchester City's European ban.

City had a two-year suspension from Uefa competition lifted this week after they appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) and Ancelotti insisted "everyone must respect" the ruling.

The Eithad Stadium side also had a fine reduced significantly but they are now free to compete in next season's Champions League after CAS ruled they were not guilty of "disguising equity funds as sponsorship contributions" as had been levelled against them.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp said the decision to overturn City's ban was "not a good day" for football while Jose Mourinho also fumed at the decision.

Ancelotti, however, was not about to get dragged into the debate when asked for his reaction to City's successful appeal or the merits of FFP which have come under greater scrutiny following CAS' decision this week.

He said: "I don't know the details really.

"UEFA take the decision on Manchester City but I don't want to go into it because I don't know all the details well of this situation.

"They take the decision and everyone has to respect the decision."

Asked if he was in favour of FFP, the financial rules and regulations brought in to ensure clubs do not live beyond their means, he replied: "I think FFP is a rule that is in football.

"It is a financial rule, I'm involved in the technical and tactical rules.

"From my point of view, it is a problem of the club to respect this rule."
