Carlo Ancelotti handed Anthony Gordon question as Everton check on injuries

Everton were the width of the post away from collecting all three points - and a famous derby win - on their Premier League return.

And the Blues will help to turn one point to three when they make the long trip to rock-bottom Norwich on Wednesday evening.

Carlo Ancelotti's tactics worked well against Liverpool but the Italian will no doubt be tempted to switch things up with the games coming quickly until the season is played out.

Here are some of the changes that could come into his thinking:

Flash Gordon?

Ancelotti sprung a surprise in his line up for the Merseyside derby with the inclusion of Anthony Gordon.

The youngster has waited patiently for his first Everton start in the Premier League and he did himself no harm with a hard-working display.

Should Ancelotti seek to freshen things up he could turn to Brazilian midfielder Bernard, who only made a brief cameo against Liverpool, emerging from the bench late on to replace Alex Iwobi.

Richarlison and Djibril Sidibe are other options should Ancelotti decide to tweak his formation.

Injury checks?

Everton's injury problems restricted Ancelotti's options for the derby but he'll hope they'll have eased for the trip to Norwich.

Djibril Sidibe could at least make the bench should the Frenchman recover from a knock to face Norwich as expected.

And Ancelotti admitted before the derby that both Yerry Mina and Fabian Delph were hopeful of facing the Canaries.

"The physical condition of the team in general is good and we're looking to recover Yerry Mina and Fabian Delph. Mina has a check on Wednesday," he said.

"They're both close to coming back to training but remain doubts for the game on Sunday. If they do not play, we hope they will be with us for the match at Norwich."

Kean opportunity?

You'd have been forgiven for forgetting Moise Kean even made it onto the pitch, such was the nature of his appearance in the derby.

The Italian was a late, late substitute against Liverpool but will be hoping to get more minutes at Carrow Road.

Indeed, Kean could start up front should Ancelotti shake things up, or a formation change could increase his chances of starting the game.
