Rapid Godfrey
Ben Godfrey is very quick.
We all know that by now, but Everton's warm-up against Aston Villa managed to give a strong reminder.
As the Blues came out to prepare for their match, their first drill involved light jogging and sprinting to stretch the legs.
As you might expect, Godfrey was the quickest Blues player in that drill. By some distance, in actual fact.
Perhaps that, again, shows the lack of pace across the side that Everton desperately need to address in the summer.
Let's hope Marcel Brands was watching the warm-up.
Late arrival
Getting the full rendition of Z Cars is becoming an ever-more rare occurrence at Goodison Park.
The Premier League's insistence on playing their own anthem, as generic as it is, usually cuts off the famous tune before it has any real chance to get going.
However, on Saturday, one of the only positives for those of an Everton persuasion in the ground was that they did get to listen to the full song for once.
As Everton made their way onto the pitch and lined up, for an extended period of time Aston Villa were nowhere to be seen as they were due to enter from their temporary changing room in the Park End.
Perhaps it was mind games from the visitors, keeping their opponents waiting on the pitch.
Smiling Smith
Maybe Dean Smith knew what was about to come.
Perhaps he had only just heard that his side wouldn't have to contend with James Rodriguez throughout the subsequent match.
Regardless, the Villa boss was clearly in a fantastic mood down on the touchline before the match even kicked off at Goodison on Saturday.
While in conversation with some members of his coaching staff, Smith was beaming from ear to ear and was definitely delighted to be preparing for a match against Everton.
The hosts really didn't do much to wipe the smile off his face following that moment, truth be told. And so the smile was certainly there again when the final whistle blew.
Carlo's fume
It would be fair to say that Saturday's game was a stressful one for Carlo Ancelotti.
The Everton boss is constantly patrolling the edge of his technical area and can often be heard shouting loud instructions at his players, but this took those traits to a new level.
The second half particularly showed off the manager's frustration on multiple occasions, although he could be heard shouting a lot at his side in the first period too.
One particular moment saw Ben Godfrey slice a clearance for an attempted ball over the top from Aston Villa, which Ancelotti absolutely didn't take kindly too.
Another incident lead to the boss shouting loudly at Mason Holgate, although the exact words couldn't quite be made out from the press box.
Maybe that's for the best. Who knows if they would be printable even if they were.
Skilful tackle
Some performances were better than other from the Everton line-up, with Jordan Pickford clearly head and shoulders above his teammates.
However, one of the outfield stars to have a relatively good outing for his side was Allan - who was typically vibrant and combative in his style throughout the 90 minutes.
And the highlight of his game came in the second half as Aston Villa attempted to break down the touchline just in front of the dugouts.
The Brazilian completed an incredible tackle which saw him win the ball cleanly and manage to perform a skill almost akin to a Cruyff-turn right on the touchline to keep the ball in play and send Everton on the attack.
Unfortunately it didn't come to anything in the end, but it was very impressive all the same.
