Carlo Ancelotti explains why James Rodriguez, Tom Davies and Seamus Coleman are out for Everton

Carlo Ancelotti says James Rodriguez, Tom Davies and Seamus Coleman have been rested for tonight’s game with Southampton because of minor knocks.

The Blues boss has decided not to risk the trio with a game with West Bromwich Albion coming up on Thursday before a trip to Chelsea a week today.

Ancelotti is confident all three will be available for the game at the Hawthorns in three days’ time.

"They had little problems in training this week and so I prefer to give them a rest to be ready for the next game,” he explained.

“We have a busy schedule, we play again on Thursday, but they will recover soon.

"They are really light problems.

"The team on the pitch is good, I think.

"We have Allan and Dominic Calvert-Lewin back so I think it’s good and I hope for a good performance.”

EVERTON: Pickford, Holgate, Keane, Godfrey, Digne; Allan, Doucoure, Gomes; Sigurdsson, Richarlison, Calvert-Lewin.

SUBS: Virginia, King, Iwobi, Nkounkou, Bernard, Broadhead, John, Astley, Onyango.
