Carlo Ancelotti said his new-look Everton team are "dangerous" from all over the pitch – as he describes the performance of man-of-the-match James Rodriguez as 'uncomplicated'.
The Blues made it two wins from two in the Premier League this season with a 5-2 thrashing of West Bromwich Albion at Goodison Park on Saturday.
Everton went 1-0 down but recovered to take a 2-1 lead into half-time after goals from Dominic Calvert-Lewin and James Rodriguez.
West Brom, down to 10 men after the sending off of Kieran Gibbs, levelled just after the break – a “silly” goal to concede according to Ancelotti – but the Blues would respond by scoring three more times to record a convincing victory.
Calvert-Lewin would complete his hat-trick and Michael Keane would score for the second straight game as the Blues went top of the table for the first time since 2007.
Ancelotti says his team are looking a threat for all angles.
He said: "We had creativity in front.
"We were really dangerous in front because we push up with the full-backs and had Andre Gomes and James Rodriguez between the lines.
"Dominic is in a fantastic moment. Richarlison is really dangerous on the counter-attack and in the box and this is why we had a lot of opportunities. Also on set-pieces we are really dangerous with Michael Keane and Yerry Mina."
Rodriguez marked his Goodison debut with an arrowed finish to put the Blues in front and also provided the corner from which Calvert-Lewin completed his hat-trick.
A delightful chipped pass over the top of the West Brom defence also set Richarlison free to tee up Everton's No9 for his second.
Ancelotti, though, says Rodriguez plays a straightforward game.
“He makes football easy,” he said.
“He has started really well and I am happy with him. He still has a fantastic desire to play and loves to play with us.
“His goal was the key goal of the game. It was a fantastic goal and he made fantastic assists.
“He is comfortable with the team and his team-mates. He is showing his qualities – the qualities I saw in Madrid and at Bayern Munich.
“The quality of James makes it easy for him to play [in any league]. His football is not complicated.
"When he has space, he tries to use his quality on passes. When he has no space and he is under pressure he tries to play simple.
“This is what every player has to do. Use your quality when there is space. Play simple when there is no space.”
