Carlo Ancelotti explains Everton decision to recall Yerry Mina and Fabian Delph

Carlo Ancelotti was convinced to recall Yerry Mina and Fabian Delph to the starting line-up because of what they did in training this week.

And the Everton boss believes handing Delph his second league start of the season "could be helpful" for today's game with Burnley.

The inclusion of Mina and Delph are the two changes Ancelotti has made from last weekend's defeat at home to Leeds but the Italian appears to be keeping faith with a 3-4-3 formation.

Ancelotti said Niels Nkounkou would feature at some point today at Turf Moor but the 20-year-old is not in the matchday squad and Delph has been preferred ahead of him.

Asked if Mina had been recalled to add physicality to Everton's backline, the Blues boss told BT Sport: "Not for the physical. I saw them well in training and so gave them a chance.

"Mina didn't play against Leeds but he is in a good condition.

"Delph has experience for this type of game. It could be helpful for us."
