Carlo Ancelotti describes James Rodriguez's best position and discusses Colombia statement

Carlo Ancelotti has stated James Rodriguez must be focused on Everton's upcoming games after a strong statement from the forward on social media.

The playmaker released a message on Thursday evening following his recent time with the Colombia national team denying any involvement in a reported dressing room altercation with his country.

Rodriguez released an official statement slamming the 'false stories' and maintaining he holds an 'excellent and respectful relationship' with his international team-mates.

However, when asked about the incident during his pre-Fulham press conference, Ancelotti doesn't believe it is Everton's problem to try and deal with.

The boss remarked: "Really I didn't talk to him about this because I think it's not our problem.

"I just welcome him. He trained, like Mina they were of course disappointed for their result with the national team but I think now they have to be focused on our games."

The Italian was also later asked about the best position of Rodriguez in the Everton setup at the minute.

Since his arrival from Real Madrid in September the Colombia international has been playing on the right-hand side of a front three, and he played that role to great affect at the beginning of the season.

However, some in recent weeks after questioned whether his best position might actually be in the centre of the pitch instead.

Ancelotti, though, does not think it's a big issue.

"His position is a number 10, but it doesn't matter if he plays a little bit on the right," he added.

"His better position is to play in front, there's no doubt for this. All the games that he played, he played in front.

"It doesn't matter if he's in the middle of the pitch or a little bit on the right of the pitch."
