Carlo Ancelotti delivers mixed Everton injury news and Abdoulaye Doucoure update

Carlo Ancelotti has delivered a mixed injury update ahead of Everton’s Premier League clash with Brighton & Hove Albion on Monday.

Ancelotti has revealed that Jordan Pickford and Andre Gomes will both miss the game at the Amex, while Allan has returned to training but will require further checks.

But Alex Iwobi will be fit for the game, having missed Everton’s 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace on Easter Monday with a minor knock.

Pickford has been sidelined with an abdominal problem, and although he has returned to training, is not yet ready for a return to action.

While Gomes is expected to return for next Friday’s game with Tottenham having been forced off inside the opening 30 minutes against Palace after picking up a hamstring injury.

But both Fabian Delph and Bernard remain sidelined and are currently following individual training programmes.

"For sure, Andre Gomes, who started to train individually today, will not be able to play on Monday. He will be able to play in the next game against Tottenham," Ancelotti told the media when asked for an injury update.

"We are checking on Allan. He trained normally this morning. We have to wait and see how it goes and if he will be available.

"Alex Iwobi will be available. Jordan Pickford started training this week. He is not 100 per cent and we don’t want to take a risk on in this game."

The Everton boss also believes that Abdoulaye Doucoure will return to action before the end of the season.

Doucoure, a £20million summer signing from Watford, has been sidelined since last month with a fractured bone in his foot.

At the time of his injury, Ancelotti was unsure if the midfielder would play again this season, but speaking on Friday afternoon, the Italian believes Doucoure will be back before the campaign is out.

He said: "He will play again [this season]. He had the scan last week, everything was OK.

“He's going to have his next scan in three weeks and then he can start to train.”
