Carlo Ancelotti considers Mason Holgate and Ben Godfrey for Everton midfield solution

Carlo Ancelotti admits Mason Holgate and Ben Godfrey are midfield options for Everton when Leicester City visit tomorrow.

But the Italian also confirmed Tom Davies will start after impressing in recent weeks.

Everton are without midfielders Abdoulaye Doucoure, Fabian Delph and Allan for the clash at Goodison Park.

Doucoure misses the game through suspension having picked up his fifth yellow card of the season against Wolves last time out in the Premier League.

While both Allan and Delph are yet to return to full fitness, however, the Blues boss has confirmed that the former Manchester City man has returned to training.

Ancelotti was asked in his pre-match press conference this afternoon if he would consider starting either Holgate or Godfrey in the middle of midfield against Leicester.

But when responding to the question, the three-time Champions League winner appeared to hint in the direction of Davies instead.

“It is an option, it is an option,” the Everton boss said. "We don't have Doucoure or Allan, but Tom Davies in the games he played, he played really well, satisfied me a lot, he is going to play, Tom.

“We have Andre Gomes did well in the last game, but I know Mason [Holgate] can also play as a midfielder.”

Before Ancelotti continued on the upcoming games against Leicester and Newcastle: "It will be important for us to understand where we want to be in the future.

“I think they're really important games for us. We want to fight for the top four, six. After Saturday we know where we're going to be. I hope it will be a nice future."
