Carlo Ancelotti confirms James Rodriguez return date as Everton suffer Allan injury setback

Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed James Rodriguez could return for Everton’s Carabao Cup quarter-final clash with Manchester United, but admits he doesn’t know how long Allan will be sidelined for.

The Colombian has missed Everton' s victories over Chelsea and Leicester City, while the Brazilian was stretchered off in the latter.

And the Blues boss has revealed both players will miss this weekend’s clash with Arsenal, along with Fabian Delph, when offering an injury update ahead of the match.

Allan had a problem on his hamstring,” Ancelotti confirmed. “We don’t know how long it will be. We don’t know how many games.

“For this period he is not going to play. No, I don’t think so (he doesn’t need an operation).”

He continued: “Rodriguez not yet. For us it is too soon to put him at risk. We have games every three days so that is why he misses three games.

“The problem is not big. He has a little problem on his calf and he is recovering. Nothing special.

“He is working and I hope he can be ready for the game against United.

“Fabian Delph is the same. He is doing individual treatment and it is too soon to talk about how long it’ll be before he returns.”

However, Ancelotti shared more positive news regarding captain Seamus Coleman as he confirmed the Republic of Ireland international is available again, though he would not confirm whether the full-back would be handed an immediate return after the Blues’ recent back-to-back clean sheets.

“Coleman is available,” he said. “The important thing is that Seamus is fit.

“Seamus has a strong desire to play. He is a fantastic captain for us. It is really important that he is back. That’s it and after that I have to choose the line-up.”
