Carlo Ancelotti confirms Gylfi Sigurdsson talks as he shares Everton's contract stance

Carlo Ancelotti says Everton will hold contract talks with Gylfi Sigurdsson in the summer.

The club record signing will enter the final 12 months of his deal in July and the Blues boss is keen on holding discussions.

Sigurdsson has seen a revival in his fortunes this season and has become a vital part of Everton's push for a top four finish with four goals and as many assists in the Premier League this term.

The £40m signing from Swansea City will be assessed before the visit of Burnley on Saturday night after sustaining an ankle problem but Ancelotti is keeping his fingers crossed he is fit to help break down Sean Dyche's side.

And Ancelotti is keen to try and find a resolution to Sigurdsson's contract situation with the five-year-deal he put pen to paper on in the summer of 2017, due to finish at the end of next season.

"I think so, I think that everyone is pleased that he is here and I think the next period we are going to talk to him to renew the contract or stay here," Ancelotti said.

"If he is happy to stay here, we are happy to keep him here."

Asked if plans would start in the summer, the Blues boss replied: "Yes, I think so."
