Carlo Ancelotti confirms Everton gesture to Marine ahead of huge FA Cup clash with Spurs

Carlo Ancelotti confirmed that Marine have trained at Everton's Finch Farm complex ahead of their FA Cup meeting with Tottenham Hotspur this weekend.

The non-league side are preparing for the biggest tie in their history on Sunday as they welcome Jose Mourinho's squad to Crosby in the third round of the competition.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the match will unfortunately be played behind-closed-doors and on Thursday Neil Young's side were unable to use their own facilities to train ahead of the match.

However, Ancelotti confirmed that Everton offered their help by letting Marine use their Finch Farm complex in the build up to what will be a historic fixture this weekend.

The boss said: "We [Ancelotti and Young] were not in touch directly, but last night they [Marine] were here to train.

"Their facility was not good, we offered them the possibility to train at Finch Farm. Honestly I didn't meet them.

"Of course it will be a fantastic day, an unbelievable day to play against a top team in England. This is the beauty of the FA Cup I think."

The meeting of Marine, who play in the Northern Premier League Division One North West, and Spurs will be the biggest gulf between two opponents in the FA Cup's long history.

Tottenham currently find themselves fourth in the Premier League table, level on points with Everton in seventh place.
