Carlo Ancelotti and Marcel Brands working 'diligently' on Everton transfer business

Carlo Ancelotti and Marcel Brands are "working diligently" on Everton's transfer plans, says Everton's chief executive.

Denise Barrett-Baxendale has updated supporters on a wide range of topics in a letter this evening, including transfers and the club's proposed new stadium.

The chief exec says "some aspects" of the stadium project have "slowed down" but that the delays are not expected to have any "material" impact on the long-term plan.

Everton have yet to make a senior signing so far this summer, with a number of players needed to be moved on first, but Barrett-Baxendale says Ancelotti and Brands are laying important groundwork.

She wrote: "Carlo and Marcel are working diligently to build on the strong, exciting base of young talent we have in our squad. And we are all determined to make significant progress in the new season."

On the club's new stadium plans, with a decision on their planning application expected in the autumn, Barrett-Baxendale went on to write:  "I know you will also be keen to hear updates on our new stadium project.

"I can confirm this has been continuing in line with our project plan and our Stadium Development Director, Colin Chong, will be providing a thorough update next week.

"As I’m sure you would expect, some aspects of this project – mainly relating to third parties – slowed down temporarily due to the impact of Covid-19, but we don’t expect this to have a material impact on our long-term plans."
