Carlo Ancelotti agrees with Robin Olsen assessment as Everton wait on Jordan Pickford

Carlo Ancelotti admitted Robin Olsen played a crucial role in his side's 2-1 win over Leeds United on Wednesday evening.

Everton managed to bounce back from two disappointing results at Goodison Park last week in great fashion as strikes from Gylfi Sigurdsson and Dominic Calvert-Lewin earned all three points at Elland Road.

But, after the game, a lot of the focus was placed on how well the visitors had performed defensively - particularly after some incredible saves from their goalkeeper.

And the manager admitted that Olsen had played a huge role in his side picking up the victory when asked about the Sweden international's display post-game.

He said: "He made super saves.

"We knew it would be difficult, we won the game because we defended well. This is quite clear.

"Olsen had a big part in this game, agreed!"

The 31-year-old was in the side in place of the injured Jordan Pickford for this game after he picked up a problem in the defeat to Newcastle.

And Ancelotti confirmed that the England No.1 will be assessed over the next few days in preparation for Everton's trip to face Manchester United at the weekend.

He added: "We have to look over the next two days, I hope he can train and be ready for Saturday."
