Carlo Ancelotti admits 'big disappointment' and points finger at Everton 'mistakes'

Carlo Ancelotti labelled Everton's 2-1 defeat at home to Burnley as a "big disappointment" and said his players' performance was "not good".

The Blues found themselves 2-0 down after 24 minutes at Goodison Park but pulled one back through Dominic Calvert-Lewin to regain a foothold in the game.

But Everton struggled to create chances in the second-half, with Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope making just one save after the break.

Ancelotti could not hide his disappointment at full-time but is refusing to give up on Everton's European ambitions with 10 league games to go.

"The performance was not good," Ancelotti said.

"At the beginning we did some mistakes and were punished for the mistakes when we tried to build up.

"Then we tried to get back in the game. We were lucky, we scored early but in the second-half we didn't have the quality necessary to find an opportunity to find solutions in front.

"It is a big disappointment but we can't give up. We have 10 games left in the Premier League and we want to fight for a position in Europe."
