Carlo Ancelotti addresses Kalidou Koulibaly transfer rumours and Everton's centre-back options

Carlo Ancelotti has addressed rumours linking Everton with a move for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly in the summer.

The Blues manager has worked with the Senegal international before during his time with the Serie A club, and some reports have suggested that a reunion could be on the cards in the upcoming transfer window.

Rumours from some have even suggested that Yerry Mina could leave Goodison Park to make way for the potential arrival of the 29-year-old.

However, Ancelotti has played down those links somewhat.

When asked about the potential of signing a central defender in the summer amid reports around the Napoli man, the Everton boss was keen to highlight the strong options he has in that area of the pitch already.

The Blues manager remarked: "Honestly, I have a lot of good memories of Koulibaly. He was a good player, a good guy, a good friend.

"But, if you see our squad there, we are really well covered because we have four centre-backs who are young, with a lot of talent and different characteristics between them.

"And so, in that position, we are really covered for the future."

Ben Godfrey was the latest addition to Everton's ranks in that position, joining the club for £20m from Norwich City on transfer deadline day last summer.

He has joined Michael Keane, Yerry Mina and Mason Holgate in a competitive battle throughout the term for a regular place in the starting 11 - with Jarrad Branthwaite also gaining experience out on loan at Blackburn Rovers.
