Carlisle Lake District Airport has free car parking and free transport from rail station

Newly reopened Carlisle Lake District Airport's car parking could be very attractive to passengers from the North East.

The airport's first commercial passenger flight for 25 years took off from Carlisle on Thursday.

Loganair has routes from Carlisle to Dublin, Belfast and London Stansted, with fares from £39.99.

The Cumbrian airport is around an hour's drive from Newcastle and closer for those living in Northumberland, which means it could rival Newcastle Airport for passengers looking to travel to the Capital and Ireland from the North East.

Carlisle Airport also offers parking which is much, much cheaper than the Newcastle Airport.
