Carl Starfelt to Celtic transfer latest as Rubin Kazan chief insists deal not done

Oleg Yarovinsky insists talks are still ongoing with Celtic over the future of Carl Starfelt.

Reports in Sweden suggested a fee had been agreed and it’s believed a medical has been booked to take place in Moscow.

But Yarovinsky insists it’s not a done deal and they are still working out details of a transfer fee for the centre back.

Celtic are desperate to get the deal done as quick as possible to get him involved in next week’s Champions League clash.

Ange Postecoglou’s men take on Midtjylland at Celtic Park and with doubts over the future and fitness of Kris Ajer, a new centre back would be a major boost.

But Yarovinsky has poured cold water on it being done imminently as he told media in his homeland it was still to be completed.

He said: “Starfelt has not yet moved to Celtic, but we are negotiating with them. Until the documents were signed, the transfer did not take place."

Celtic have signed Israeli winger Liel Abada who joined the club yesterday, while youngsters Liam Shaw and Osaze Urhoghide joined from Sheffield Wednesday.

They are also believed to be interested in Rennes pair Sacha Boey and Brandon Soppy.
