Carl Starfelt Celtic transfer talks 'not progressing' as deal hits Kristoffer Ajer exit stumbling block

Celtic's bid to bring Carl Starfelt to the club is at a standstill with Kristoffer Aje r's future up in the air, according to a report.

Swedish stopper Starfelt has been linked with a £4million move as the time ticks toward the start of the season.

The Rubin Kazan defender had been lined up as a replacement for Norwegian centre-back Ajer, who has stated his desire to leave Celtic this summer.

However, reports in Norway indicate that potential suitors have been priced out of a big for the 23-year-old and that looks to have impacted on the Starfelt approach.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano reports that while a deal was close talks are "no longer progressing."

He notes that this is on hold due to the uncertainty over Ajer's next move.

There was an indication earlier today that the move was not imminent as Starfelt started for Rubin Kazan in their friendly win over Khimki.
