Carl Starfelt Celtic intrigue twist as £4m defender looks ready for Europa League clash despite UEFA absence

Celtic defender Carl Starfelt trained with his team-mates after fears were raised he would miss Thursday's crunch Europa League clash away to Jablonec.

The 26-year-old signed last week but was absent from UEFA's official squad list for the game that was released on Tuesday morning.

It was a similar case for fellow new arrival Liel Abada before the game with Midtjylland but the Israeli started and scored.

Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou will be hoping Starfelt will have a similar impact against the Czechs after Starfelt endured a tough start in the 2-1 defeat to Hearts.

The Parkhead side know a victory over Jablonec will set up a playoff encounter with AZ Alkmaar but defeat would see them dropping down inti a do-or-die clash in the Europa Conference League.

Starfelt arrived from Rubin Kazan but the Sweden international was forced into isolation for 10 days before he could join up with his team-mates.

Kyogo Furuhashi will be hoping for a telling impact as he gets set for more game time following his brief cameo in Saturday night's encounter at Tynecastle.
