Carl Starfelt 'agrees' Celtic transfer as Rubin Kazan defender set for medical

Defender Carl Starfelt has reportedly agreed a £4.1million move to Celtic.

Ange Postecoglou is stepping up his transfer drive this week and is on the verge of landing Israeli winger Liel Abada.

But Rubin Kazan defender Starfelt is also on the manager's radar.

Expressen.se claim a fee has been agreed with the Russian club and that only a medical stands between the Swede and a switch to Parkhead.

They quote the fee as 50m Swedish Krona, which works out at over £4m.

Starfelt's former club IFK Gothenburg are set to receive a sell-on fee of around £400,000.

Adding a centre-back to his ranks will be a significant step forward for Postecoglou as he prepares for a Champions League qualifier against Midtjylland in just seven days.

Rennes right-back Brandon Soppy is a target for the Parkhead club and he sparked social media speculation on Tuesday by appearing to clear out his locker at the Ligue 1 side.

Abada, meanwhile, could complete his move within the next 24 hours.

The 19-year-old Petah Tikva winger is also wanted by Club Brugge but Celtic have moved to the front of the queue for his signature.
