Carl Phillips enjoys four race wins in season opener at Bishopscourt

The 2019 motorcycle racing season got underway at the weekend at Bishopscourt for the first round USBK Superbike Championship Season.

And Lisburn racer Carl Phillips started the campaign in spectacular style, winning four races in the one day.

Phillips made his first outing on the Ian Lougher Racing Italian Paton Supertwin and enjoyed a double victory.

After a lean season in 2018 Phillips has got a smile on his face again and is looking forward to the North West 200 to compete in the Supertwins race on the fabulous ILR Paton.

Phillips also recorded two Superbike wins on his James McCaw Roofing Kawasaki, not bad for someone who did very little racing last season.

In Suuperbike race 1 Gerard Kinghan suffered a rare crash but thankfully was not seriously injured.

Phillips had to fend off Aalistair Kirk (AJKR McCurry BMW) and Adam McClean (McAdoo Kawasaki) followed by Aaron Armstrong, Ryan Gibson and Barry Graham who completed the top six.

Jason Lynn from Upperlands enjoyed two Supersport race wins on his Walter Bell Suzuki that puts him in good stead for the first BSB Supersport round at Silverstone over Easter weekend.

It was great to see many young riders taking part with Cameron Dawson showing his class again, securing a double win in the Junior Supersport class.

It was good to see Rossi Dobson from Belfast competing for the first time along with Rhys Coates from Ballyclare who enjoyed a podium finish.

Darryl Anderson and Darryl Tweed also enjoyed a win each in the Production Twins race, while Stephen McKeown and Kris Duncan won the lightweight support races.

Woolsey Coulter and Jamie Lyons shared the wins in the MOTO 3 class.

The next USBK Superbike Championship race will be at Bishopscourt on Easter Saturday, April 20 and Kirkistown on Easter Monday, April 22.
