Carl Lawson says Aaron Rodgers is easiest QB to sack

Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Carl Lawson knows all about getting after quarterbacks.

Typically speaking, no quarterback should want to be singled out as easy to sack. But Lawson said an unexpected name when asked, according to NFL.com’s Kevin Patra:

“Honestly, I think it’s easier to sack Aaron Rodgers than most quarterbacks,” Lawson said on NFL Network. “He sits there, and he pats the ball. At the same time, sacking him don’t mean nothing if you don’t do it for four quarters. You know, he came back against us. So, I mean, he’s an easier quarterback for me to sack personally, because he sits there, and he probably gets eight to 10 yards in the pocket.”

Call it an interesting dynamic — one would think a bad passer or inexperienced rookie might hold on to the ball too long and take unnecessary hits. Lawson, though, says it’s one of the game’s best.

Lawson picked up 2.5 of his 8.5 sacks against the Packers as a rookie in 2017, though he wasn’t always lining up against starters.

Either way, it’s a fun piece of trivia with a Bengals slant, at worst. Unfortunately, Rodgers and Lawson won’t get to meet again on the field in 2019 during the regular season.
