Carl Froch blasts 'useless and embarrassing' YouTuber Jake Paul after Tommy Fury defeat

Nottingham boxing legend Carl Froch has slammed Jake Paul after his defeat to Tommy Fury - labelling his performance as "embarrassing".

Prior to the YouTuber's defeat to the brother of Tyson Fury in Saudi Arabia, Paul and Froch had traded insults via social media with talk of the latter coming out of retirement for a bout.

That all seemingly hinged on Paul beating Fury, something he could not do, despite knocking his opponent down in a surprisingly competitive encounter.

Froch wasn't impressed, lambasting the social media star as a commentator on the fight. Froch blasted: "He can’t call himself a professional boxer because he’s gone in against a novice pro and got absolutely whooped, he got obliterated.

"He wasn’t really in the fight let’s be honest. Ok, it was competitive at stages but look, he’s swinging for the heavens there with that overhand right.”

In a clip posted on his Instagram, Froch posted a clown emoji and laughed as he continued his assessment, stating: "Jake Paul, absolutely useless.

"You got whooped, you got embarrassed. What was that? I've never seen anything so bad in my life.

"That was terrible, take up darts!"

In the build-up to the fight, Froch had been vowing to send the YouTube star “into f****** orbit” if they meet in a boxing match.

Paul challenged Froch to take on UFC icon Anderson Silva to prove himself as a worthy adversary, if he was to be victorious, Paul said he would then take on the fighter nicknamed The Cobra, who won the WBC, IBF and WBA super-middleweight titles during the course of his glittering career.

The 45-year-old has not been in action since stopping George Groves in their second bout at Wembley in May 2014, a fact he was quick to remind Paul of when he posted a video on Twitter, saying: “So, Jake Paul has called me out on his social media. Apparently, he wants to fight me. Just in case you didn’t know, my last fight was at Wembley Stadium in front of 80,000 fans.

“I won’t be fighting the mixed martial arts legend Anderson Silva. I’ve got too much respect for him. And your punch when you boxed him, did that even land? Very dubious.

“Don’t talk about me in the same league as you. I’m a four-time world champion. Two WBC titles there. You’ll never, ever have one of them. You’re not good enough. You’re not a professional fighter. You’re a performing clown. That’s all you are.

“So keep my name out of your mouth until you’ve done something in the game. If you are stupid enough to take a fight with me, when this right hand lands on your chin, it will put you into f****** orbit and knock that stupid barnet off the top of your head.”
