Carl Frampton vs Jamel Herring TV channel doubts ahead of April 3 clash

Doubts remain over how UK fight fans will get to watch Carl Frampton's massive world title showdown with Jamel Herring.

Frampton will bid to become a three-weight world champion when he faces WBO super-featherweight king Herring in Dubai on April 3.

It promises to be a blockbuster bout, but there is uncertainty over which broadcaster will show the fight live in the UK.

The fight - postponed from February 27 - was originally due to be shown live on BT Sport and on ESPN in the USA.

That would have been Frank Warren and Queensberry Promotions' first show of 2021, in association with MTK Global.

But the bout has been moved to The Rotunda at Caesars Bluewaters, Dubai, and now comes under the promotional banner of D4G Promotions in association with Top Rank and Queensberry Promotions.

Speaking last month, Ahmed A Seddiqi of D4G Promotions said: "We are honoured to now be staging the incredible world title battle between Jamel Herring and Carl Frampton. This is one of the most anticipated fights of the year, and we're proud to have it in Dubai.

"This event has been a long time coming and we know boxing fans from across the globe will be tuning in to see if history will be made an a new legacy crowned or if we’ll see a hat-trick.

"This is going to a be a must-see event, and it is one that people are certain to be talking about around the world for years to come."

It is hoped a deal can be brokered for the fight to be shown in the UK, given the magnitude of the date for Belfast hero Frampton.

It is understood video streaming service DAZN have expressed an interest in the TV rights, while BT Sport - who have close connections to Frampton's co-promoter Warren - are also in the frame..
