Carl Frampton vs Jamel Herring: New date set for world title fight

Carl Frampton is set to challenge Jamel Herring for the American's WBO world super-featherweight title on April 3.

The bout was originally scheduled for this Saturday, February 27, but was postponed after Frampton picked up a hand injury.

It is also expected that the fight will now take place in Dubai, after previously being scheduled for Belfast and then London.

Frampton asked for a postponement to allow a hand injury to heal.

He said last week: “It’s just a bit of a twinge to my hand, nothing too serious but I have seen a specialist and his advice was to rest it,” the former two weight world champion explained in a statement.

“So I asked about the possibility of a postponement to the fight and it was agreed to. It gives me a better chance because I will be going into the fight with two good hands after taking advice from the specialist. It’s nothing major though and there is no fracture.”

It is expected the fight will be shown live in the UK on BT Sport and on ESPN in the United States.
