Carl Frampton vs Jamel Herring 'likely' to be held at Windsor Park

Speculation is mounting that Windsor Park could host Carl Frampton vs Jamel Herring on June 13.

It is hoped that the massive WBO World super-featherweight clash will be confirmed in the coming weeks.

Frampton is easing back to some light training after having surgery on both hands in December.

The Jackal fought at the end of November when he outclassed Tyler McCreary in Las Vegas, his first fight since losing to Josh Warrington in December 2018.

The 32-year-old is targeting a world title at a third different weight, having claimed major belts at super-bantamweight and featherweight.

And he could get that opportunity at super-feather glory at the home of Northern Ireland football - Windsor Park.

Boxing Scene is reporting that The National Stadium and June 13 is he venue and date for the fight which Herring says is "90 per cent done".

The reigning champion also told Boxing Scene: “I'm assuming ink on the contract is that other 10 per cent, and I don’t see it going anywhere else but Belfast either.

“All we need to do is sign on the dotted line [and] then give the world a good show.”

Speaking recently to Belfast Live Sport, Frampton said of his hand surgery: "The surgeon was very happy with my hands. When I saw him after the surgery it was exactly a month.

"He has told me I can do a lot more with my hands and I can start punching very soon. He is delighted with how they are.

"I will be more than ready for a fight in May or June."
