Carl Frampton vs Jamel Herring: Jackal fight to be shown on free-to-air TV in UK and Ireland

Channel 5 have stepped in to show Carl Frampton's world title showdown with Jamel Herring this weekend.

The Jackal will bid to become Ireland's first-ever three-weight world champion in Dubai on Saturday night.

There were initial doubts over which broadcaster would show the fight live in the UK and Ireland.

But it has now been confirmed that Channel 5 will show all the action from the Caesars Bluewaters Dubai, with their coverage due to start around 10pm on Saturday night.

Frampton said on Twitter: "Absolutely delighted that my fight will be shown to the masses on free to air TV.

"It is where the sport of boxing should be shown, accessible to everyone in the country. Having the potential of millions being able to watch me make history is truly special."

Elsewhere on Saturday’s event, Belfast's Tyrone McKenna and Zhankosh Turarov meet for the WBO Intercontinental super-lightweight title, while American prodigy Keyshawn Davis faces Richman Ashelley.

Four-weight world champion Donnie Nietes clashes with Pablo Carillo for the vacant WBO International super-flyweight title, and Kazakhstan sensation Tursynbay Kulakhmet defends his WBC International super-welterweight title against 20-0 opponent Heber Rondon.

Faizan Anwar and Fahad Al Bloushi also return on the bill.
